THE CURSED SHALL RISE AGAIN

(Let's take it easy.)
Let the Stars Read your Future
Name: Ian Garner
Age: 20
Made-up or Canon: canon, snake
History:
Originally from Seattle, Ian was the son of two successful doctors. Although he was the youngest of three children he was by no means spoiled; his parents taught him at an early age that things wouldn't always be dropped in his lap - to be rewarded, one must first succeed. His childhood was unremarkable; he was smart and athletic and friendly. When he became a teenager he blossomed into a handsome young man.
However as a teenager his life became more difficult. While his older siblings were utterly successful in school - 4.0 GPA, valedictorians, the whole nine yards - with little effort, Ian often struggled. He had a bad temper, was stubborn, and often easily stressed. However he was also a very laid back, extroverted person, and was also the kind of guy who enjoyed talking about himself and just hearing himself speak (plus he was very sarcastic and quite the smart aleck). Two very different sides of the same coin. He often would rather hang out with his friends than study. He had a reputation as a partier and his grades suffered for it.
Despite pressure to succeed and his academic status in the shadow of his more outstanding siblings, Ian made it through high school with flying colors. He showed a talent for foreign languages and a passion for literature and history. He was accepted by a relatively prestigious university (though it was still not as well-thought-of as those his older brother and sister attended) and immediately set to work in their foreign languages department, also studying history and english.
College was a challenge to Ian, especially because he had never really been able to balance his social life and his academic needs and now he didn't have his parents around to badger him into it. He went wild for most of the year, pulling all-nighters the day before tests and due dates. It worked for the first year, but barely, and he didn't realize the damage it was doing to him - he was more easily stressed and temperamental than ever.
In his second year he tried the same technique again, this time to different results: he passed by the skin of his teeth. There were occasions where he was up for nearly entire weeks at a time and the consequences manifested themselves psychologically. At the end of the year he practically had a nervous breakdown while working on a term paper. He finished it and managed through the year but to his parents it was obvious he needed a break and they told him to take the next semester off; maybe find a job or put to use the skills he'd learned in college? He could go abroad and put one of his learned languages to use; eventually he decided that he'd take time off in Japan. He excelled at the language, and maybe after relaxing he could get a job, or just do something that would look good on a resume.
He arrived in Japan a few weeks later - fortuitously (or not) the same city as the Sohmas - and looked forward to some rest followed by an easy job. The first few days were alright. Then one day he woke up feeling a bit odd - sort of like he was hung over, except he hadn't done anything the night before. Shaking it off, he prepared to continue with his day, unaware of the significance of what he'd been feeling.
(Note: he doesn't yet know he's been cursed with the snake.)

Sample RP:
Day came slowly to Ian; light filtered through the cracks in the shutters, the air conditioner hummed, muted sounds of traffic and the living city could be heard. He rapidly opened and shut his eyes a few times, staring at the ceiling above him. Something felt... off. He just couldn't put his finger on it. He thought about the day ahead as he started to pull himself together and get up; he'd been in the city about ten days. Pretty soon he should start looking for a job, someone looking for an intern or temp. Maybe he'd look today. Or maybe he'd meet some people he knew from school. Exchange students, foreign scholarships, that sort of thing. He raised his head up from the pillow.
And was immediately met with a pounding ache. "Aaaah!" he groaned as he fell back to bed. He felt like somebody had broken baseball bats on his head. His first thought was that he was hung over before he corrected himself - he didn't go out last night. He didn't do much of anything last night. He went to a classic film theater and watched a Kurosawa movie before getting dinner and going to sleep. It wasn't much but he didn't want it to be - he wanted to escape complication, after all. Get some time to himself.
He lifted himself up by his elbows, head still aching but not so severely, as he thought. So if it wasn't a hangover what was it? God, he hoped he wasn't getting sick - but that wasn't it either. He could tell aside from the headache there weren't any symptoms... except for something he couldn't put his finger on. Something that just wasn't right. Ah, well. Probably still waking up. He swung himself up and out of bed. He moved towards the shower before he was suddenly seized by a charley horse in his right leg. He straightened out his leg for a few moments before the sudden pain went away.
He noticed his headache was gone; whatever else he was feeling wasn't but he figured that mystery would vanish soon as well; he couldn't put his finger on it but something didn't feel right about... well... him. He felt different. Fundamentally different.
Ah, well. He probably had just slept in a weird position or something. "It'll be gone in a couple hours max," Ian thought to himself as he turned on the shower. Of course, this wouldn't be the case.
