* * * * * Now, just because Nobumi had found herself, once again, in the forest...Alone...Without any idea where she was going, did not mean she was lost. And just because she could see the sky getting darker and darker did not mean she was in trouble. She had absolutely no need to panic. None. After all, hadn't she been camping in this particular forest before? That clump of underbrush looked familiar.
Kinda.
Perhaps it was one she'd seen just a half hour ago.
Nobumi paused, hands on her hips as she looked around her, the wooded area around her rather quiet, so she filled the silence with the sounds from her head set. She sighed, her smile slipping from her face to be replaced by an almost emotionless, careless look. It was her serious face. When she needed to think things out, because she knew she was about to be in trouble.
Because mother still became very displeased if Nobumi was late home. After all, who knows what man might come along, get fresh with her and POOF! There stood a cow with pink spots. The very though was humiliating enough for the American Doctor. That's not to say that Mrs. Tsuki did not worry for her child's safety rather than the potential for social humiliation. But Lord knows, Nobumi didn't think of such things. So someone had to.
Without any idea what else to do, Nobumi continued to stand, hands on her hips for a moment before reaching up and pulling the headphones off her ears and letting them hang about her neck. She tilted her head to one side, as though the movement would help her to hear(not that it would. She hadn't the greatest hearing in the world) and listened to her surroundings. She wasn't sure, but she thought she might, just might hear footsteps.
Her slight smile returned and she turned in the direction of the sound. If it came from a human, she was sure to get help. If it was an animal, she was bound to hear them scampering away as fast as possible as though she were some terrifying beast. Either way, only one way to tell. "Excuse me? Could you point me in the right direction?" She asked a bit louder than her normal speaking voice but still rather subdued.

Finally. One of the days he could just sit back and relax. All it took was a trip to the forest and away from the noise of the city to calm this cat down. So much had been happening lately and so quickly too. The night he had changed into that hideous monster, things started changing with him. Cats flocked to him whenever he was in the worst of his moods, when he'd get hugged by girl he would change into a small light and dark brown cat, and his fear of rats had turned into an all out hatred of the small vermin. There were other, smaller things that had changed, but they were too insignificant to mention. He had gotten a lot more tired recently, falling asleep quite frequently during the day.
Speaking of falling asleep frequently during the day, that's what Minoru was currently doing. He had taken a short walk through the forest this morning before climbing a tree and taking a nap. If you could consider a day-long period of sleep a nap. It had been quite early in the morning when he had come out here for his nap, and now it was just about dusk.
An ear twitched, quite inhumanly, as the sound of crunching underbrush slowly woke him up. As the crunching got louder he sighed and opened his eyes. He suddenly realized how long he had been asleep and sighed to himself; but the crunching was getting louder. He turned to look down off the branch he had been leaning against, trying to get a better look at who was coming by. Oh, but the sound got quieter, so lowering himself slowly, he followed the sound of the footsteps until they were loud enough to be nearby.
So it was a girl then? Wandering the forest on her own. Minoru chuckled; she must have guts. But of course, she heard him and had turned to look straight at him. Oh, but girls meant trouble, they always did. Why had he followed her? That was a good question, but no way to turn back now.
"Way out of here, hm? Well, if you go straight in one direction you're bound to get out at some point. Now, if you're looking to end up at a specific place on a specific side of the forest, I may be the person to help you there."

* * * * * "Hmm..." Nobumi hummed to herself, taking a step to one side and back, away from the male. But her slight smile remained upong her features. She wasn't necessarily scared of him. Why should she be? He had just offered to help her, after all. And he'd made no move to do her harm.
And he was pretty.
Well, Nobumi wasn't one to put much stock into appearances, but he was pretty. And he had a nice voice. He had lovely music in him. Nobumi tilted her head to the other side as he spoke. And a small little chuckle escaped her. "I had thought that just going in one direction would save me eventually from the clasp of this forest." She responded, looking up at the ever-darkening sky. But wandering like that will not save me from my mother....So..." She wandered a bit in a circle, not really going anywhere, just wrapping herself in a tight circle in place before pausing and looking over her shoulder at the young man behind her.
"My grandparents's house is between the forest and my school. If you know where Kaibara High is from here, then we should run into my home before we reach the school." Nobumi stood watching the boy for a few moments before spinning on her heel and reaching out her hand, her fingertips still a good arm's length from him. He'd have to step forward to reach. "Come. You are taking me there, yes?"

Kaibara High. Of course he knew where that was, it was his school as well of course. He looked out at the hand and shrugged it off, walking past the girl. He had no intention of transforming into a cat today, so he tried to keep his distance from the strange girl with pink streaks in her black hair. Dyed hair, not something Minoru was a fan of.
"Kaibara Highschool, alright..." he mumbled to himself, walking on ahead of the girl. He was taller than her by quite a lot. But her attire and attitude gave him the impression that she was younger than him by one or two years.
After passing the girl up he got quiet, retreating into his own thoughts. He had soon found out after turning into a monster that he had quite the internal compass, owing that to the cat that possessed him. He didn't really have much to say to the girl he was leading out the forest, he figured he'd drop her once they left the forest, she could find her way back to her home from here. No way was he going to stick around and escort her back to her home, didn't want any misunderstandings between himself and the girl's family. No, that was totally unwanted.
That girl, well, he was going to keep calling her "that girl." Minoru had no intention to learn what that girl's name was. Once he did, he knew she would expect them to keep in touch and become "friends." He didn't need friends, or particularly want any. He was fine on his own, working part-time and living on his own. His parents hadn't liked it when he left, but they continued paying for public school for himself, a good change of pace from the homeschooling he had been put through as a child.
Minoru glanced back at the girl, making sure she was still there. There was still quite a way before they would make it out of the forest, and he didn't want to loose her and have to go back in to fish her out, especially in the dark. It was getting darker by the minute, and would probably be quite difficult to see through soon, but they would have to trek through the forest for a while now.
"It's gonna be a while, we're probably going to have to walk in the dark."

* * * * * Nobumi didn't even bat an eye as the young man walked right by her, ignoring her hand altogether. She simply clasped her hands together behind her and twisted about on her heel again, following him into the dark forest around them. She was only a couple of paces behind him and was able to look him over a little closer. Yes. He was pretty. But he seemed very...Stiff? Blocked off? Unrelenting in his solidarity? That was too bad. He seemed like someone who might do well in a crowd. He was much taller than her, but there was no way he was much older. She had always been tiny for her age. Perhaps he was just large for his.
She tilted her head to one side and then the other, her feet swinging under her, kicking up leaves and twigs. It made a lot of noise, but she was careful not to actually kick anything onto the boy before her. If he seemed terse now, she was certain that would only make it worse. The whole 'I'll-take-you-where-you're-going-but-don't-come-near-me thing. Which she wasn't too bothered about, of course. It was just a pity. A shame, was all. She didn't get many chances to chat with guys. And it was unlikely she'd be embraced by such a grumpy-puss. So this was likely the only time she'd get to converse with a guy so closely.
But then he spoke up with that nice sounding voice of his. "Hmm? It will become dark soon?" she asked, repeating his words back to him. She looked up to the sky, pondering the idea that she'd be alone with a strange male at night. In the forest. Where no one knew where she was. And instead of being worried for her life, she was more worried she'd trip over something in the dark, or loose site of her guide.
With a quick hop, she closed the distance between them a bit and reached out to lightly tack hold of the hem of his shirt. "I can't see so well in the dark..." She explained shortly, as though that completely explained her proximity.

She grabbed onto the back of his shirt.
It took all of Minoru's strength not to slap her hand away. He just stopped, reached back behind himself, and gently plucked her hand off his shirt. No, he wouldn't have any of this. He wouldn't let this girl do whatever she pleased. He did not feel comfortable with such a girl in close proximity. He just didn't. He did not feel up to changing today, and then having to convince her to stay quiet about it. He turned around to look the girl over, and had to look down to get a good enough look. She was so short...
"Nothing is going to try to eat you. You'd probably taste horrible anyways. Just keep me in sight, none of this grabby-hold-onto stuff. Do not touch me. I've got fairly okay sight in the dark, just stay away from me."
He turned back around and started walking again. With his luck this girl would get them both killed, or worse, she'd make him transform. He absentmindedly went and felt for the Juzu bead bracelet around his wrist, making sure it was still there. He sighed when he felt the carved beads against his fingertips. It was still there. He glanced back at the girl once again, making sure she was still there. It would be even worse luck if she took the bracelet off his wrist, and that would definitely be a bad day.
He could just imagine the look of horror on her face when she saw him turn into such a hideous monster. A slight shiver went down his spine. Minoru couldn't let that happen. Not that it mattered if he scared her off, but getting her to shut up about it would be the worst. Good thing she had no idea what his name was. Yes, very good, and he would keep it that way. They didn't need to know each other's name, or where they lived, or anything. They would never see each other again after this.
Yes, Minoru liked this idea very much.

* * * * * Nobumi couldn't help but let out a slightly irritated sigh. Was the boy a complete nincumpoop? The issue wasn't that he could see just fine. She stopped right where she was, her hands on her hips, biting down on her bottom lip, her brow furrowed. It was already difficult for her to see as it was, and it was only dusk. She couldn't imagine even being able to make out his silhouette in the dark, much less follow him.
"Look, if you aren't going to help me, fine, say so. Don't do this half-help bull." She sighed, placing her forehead in the palm of one hand to calm herself. No need to fuss at the guy who had claimed he could help her. "The issue here is not whether or not you can see to get us out of the woods. The issue is that I won't be able to see you enough to follow you..." She paused and crossed her arms, stepping forward carefully, trying to make sure she didn't trip over anything. It would be just her luck. To trip and fall and this grumpy guy be the only chance she had of not hitting the ground and breaking something.
She held her hands out slightly, both to keep her balance and to keep from running into anything. She had to keep her eyes to the ground, or she'd be making her acquaintance to a root soon enough. She sighed, her temper already gone. She was back to her calm, collected self, barely paying attention to more than the noise around her.
A little twitch of her lips and she was smiling again. "I probably would taste like steak, honestly...If something decided it wanted to eat me." She didn't think that he'd get the joke, after all, who but her family knew what she was? But she was fine with it being an inside joke to herself. Of course she wasn't worried something would eat her. The mountain lions and bears didn't usually come this close to town. She was simply more worried about getting home late and her mother scolding her.
Which looked more and more likely as time went by.
How did it get so dark so quickly?! Nobumi had to slow down in order to keep her balance. She never was one for balance. A steady gait was not among her finer qualities.
